Value Stream Mapping is a lean-management method that charts the flow of materials and information required to bring a product from raw material to the customer. In manufacturing documentation, it appears as a visual diagram with current-state and future-state views used to identify delays, inventory, and non-value-adding steps.

Another is translating both material flow and information flow as the same generic “flow,” hiding the lean distinction between production movement and planning signals.
