Hold Time保持时间

Hold time is the minimum duration that a data signal must remain stable after the active clock edge so that a flip-flop or latch captures it correctly without metastability. In timing analysis and constraint files for digital design documents, it specifies a lower bound that validation and sign-off flows check against the actual data path during corner and mode analysis.

Where this term appears

In translation and localization work, the term hold time appears in static timing analysis reports, standard delay constraint files, timing closure guides, and digital verification documentation at the block and chip level. It also occurs in EDA tool messages, design review presentations, and sign-off checklists where engineers discuss timing violations and required fixes.

The mistake that shows up most often

The most common error is translating it as “retention time” or “hold duration,” or confusing it with setup time. Since hold time is a distinct timing constraint checked on the same clock edge, mistranslation in tool messages or checklist items can lead engineers to fix the wrong violation and misread sign-off reports.

Why consistent rendering matters

Terminology must stay consistent across datasheets, design kits and patent filings. A single inconsistent parameter can propagate into fabrication decisions or weaken a patent claim, and IP confidentiality applies to every document in the chain.

Angel Translation locks terms like this into a project terminology base before expert review begins, so the same source term resolves to the same target term across every document in a submission — and stays consistent in the next revision. See the 8-step AI + expert workflow.
