Chiplet芯粒

A chiplet is a small, independently designed and manufactured integrated circuit block that is combined with other chiplets inside a single package to create a larger system. In translation and localization work, the term appears in processor architecture white papers, advanced packaging design specifications, and foundry service catalogs where modular die partitioning is described instead of a single monolithic SoC.

Where this term appears

'Chiplet' occurs in hardware architecture documents, silicon product briefs, packaging roadmaps, and design-for-integration guides. Translators meet it when localizing materials on interposer-based designs, multi-die modules, and high-speed die-to-die interfaces, where marketing terms must not blur the technical distinction between chiplets and discrete packaged chips. It also appears in EDA tool documentation for chiplet-based design kits.

The mistake that shows up most often

A frequent mistake is translating 'chiplet' as 'small chip' or 'chipset.' 'Small chip' loses the modular design meaning, while 'chipset' refers to a different PC-platform component set. Such errors can confuse system architecture and packaging documentation, especially where chiplet-to-chiplet interfaces, interposer routing, and thermal or signal-integrity discussions are the main subjects.

Why consistent rendering matters

Terminology must stay consistent across datasheets, design kits and patent filings. A single inconsistent parameter can propagate into fabrication decisions or weaken a patent claim, and IP confidentiality applies to every document in the chain.

Angel Translation locks terms like this into a project terminology base before expert review begins, so the same source term resolves to the same target term across every document in a submission — and stays consistent in the next revision. See the 8-step AI + expert workflow.
