Length Limit字符限制
A length limit is a constraint placed on the target text for a UI string, subtitle line, button label, or other rendered element so that it fits the space or time available in the interface or media player. In localization documentation it is usually expressed as a maximum number of characters per string, pixels per line, or characters per second for subtitles.

Where this term appears
Length limits appear in localization kits for mobile apps, desktop software, and game UI, and in subtitling specs for timed media. Translators see them as character-count columns in a CAT tool, as max-length metadata attached to strings, or as reading-speed and line-length rules in a subtitling convention.
Translation checks
The most damaging error is expanding the source text to make a translation read naturally while ignoring the limit, which can cause truncated buttons, overflowing menus, or subtitles that disappear too fast. Translators sometimes also confuse character limits with pixel limits, producing strings that pass validation but still break at runtime.
